Nigeria-based Global Biofuels is establishing the first of a number of refineries for the production of bioethanol from sweet sorghum. Ethanol will be blended with petrol to make E10. Global Biofuels is planning to establish the project in nine Nigerian states. It expects to start production in December 2009, with an initial production capacity of 27 million litres a year. The company will also produce biodiesel from safflower (an oil seed crop used for food) to power industries and electric power generators. Additional information: News date: 02/01/2009 |
