Yingli has signed an EPC contract with Senelec, to construct a 2 MW ground-mounted PV plant. The 2 MW solar project will be situated in the Dakar capital. The 2 MW plant is one of Senegal's flagship PV projects and will supply the international conference centre Diamniadio with power, where the "XV Francophonie Summit" will take place in November this year. Construction is set to begin July and is expected to be up and running by November. Yingli Solar will supply the project's multicrystaline modules, which will span 2.5 hectares when installed. The PV plant will generate 3.7 MWh of power annually, providing 1,000 homes with power. Papa Dieng, General Manager of Senelec said "This project is an opportunity for Yingli Solar to integrate its technology in the West African energy market and an opportunity for Senelec to build the future of clean energy in Senegal. I hope this example of cooperation between Senelec and Yingli will be enlarged to various domains of Yingli technology. With this project, Senelec realises the vision of the president Macky Sall, for an energy mix giving more place to clean energy".
